The Tabletop Studio Pro TS 400 comes flat packed in a lightweight and robust Smartcase* and includes a clear translucent backdrop support, translucent white, opaque white and 2 translucent coloured backdrops and the newly added Jet Black and Mid Gray polymer backdrops. Here we’ll run you through the simple set up and give you some tips on how to make the most of this very convenient, portable tabletop photo studio.
The backdrop support system is folded and locked together with two tabs and ready for loading any combination of the six backdrops included with the TS400. Ready for action in an instant.
Using the Tabletop Studio Backdrops
The opaque white backdrop is good for classic white background images. The opaque white backdrop is ideal as the base layer for the translucent coloured backdrops.
The Modahaus Tabletop Studio system has many unique features. The shot above shows the tabletop photo studio in the alternative upright position with the translucent white backdrop which allows for effective lighting from behind. You can also light from below by placing studio on a glass or acrylic table or surface.
Do I need a light tent or light cube?
Here we see the Smartcase quickly converted to a lift on/lift off light diffusing and reflection control enclosure. This performs all the functions of a light tent or light cube with none of the problems associated with them such as wrinkled, grubby backgrounds, wires and cords casting shadows. Modahaus Tabletop Photo Studios are made entirely from a wipe clean, anti-static, food safe advanced polymer so is 100% fit for purpose and built to last!
Smartcase as Tabletop Softbox
The Smartcase is also very useful when used as a large tabletop softbox. Here we show it used with a remotely triggered Speedlight as the lightsource with the softbox diffusing light and softening shadows. The tabletop softbox is also very useful for portrait photography.
Using the translucent colored backdrops
Using the translucent colored backdrops individually on the opaque white you have 2 vibrant colour options and by adding the backdrops in different combinations you have a myriad of background effects and colours to discover like subtle vari colour vignettes, accent backlit halos and deep rich tones. Use the translucent white backdrop as a base for the translucent colored backdrops for dramatic accent halo effects. Using coloured backdrops also helps achieve good even exposure of your subject for basic point and shoot photography. The newly added polymer Jet Black and mid gray makes this a truly unequalled package. All backdrops have a satin finish one side and a glossier silk finish on the reverse. The TS400 model uniquely also comes with a Jet Black ‘bottle strip’. This post shows the ‘bottle strip’ in action.
