Facebook Messenger has a new app called Photo Magic coming which will make private sharing of photos easier. It uses the same Facebook facial recognition technology to tag photos and identify your friends. The app can then do the next step which most of us are often too busy or too lazy to do – send the photos to just those on them. But only if you want to.
You can opt out if you don’t want to be recognized by changing the privacy control settings.
Photo Magic is expected to be popular. The Director Of Product Management, Peter Martinazzi, said “What we’ve seen is that private sending of photos in Messenger is really popular. About 9.5 billion photos were sent inside Messenger in the last month.”
Photo Magic is being tested in Australia for Android and iOS users this week. The app will roll out more widely after that.
